Gene Saunders
Gene Saunders is a graduate of the United States Army Airborne and Ranger Schools, as well as the United States Marine Corps Reconnaissance School. He served for 33 years in the Chesapeake, Virginia Police Department and retired in 2001 as Police Captain. At that point, Chief Saunders began his full time work with the Virginia 43rd Search and Rescue Squad and has led the organization as its Chief since 1986. Gene Saunders has received numerous awards including 3 Meritorious Service Awards, 3 Silver Stars for Valor and numerous commendations from various Police Departments and a SWAT Service Commendation from the President of the United States.
